Why Harnest Exists

A home is more than a roof. It is the foundation for stability, dignity and long-term wellbeing: a safe place to live, to recover, to raise a family and to plan for the future. For too many people, that foundation is out of reach. Harnest exists to change that. We build inclusive housing for the people and communities who need it most, and we do it with the care this work demands and the certainty our partners rely on.

How we measure success

We measure our success by three things:

•       The homes we deliver. Every home is a place someone will live for years, so it has to be right.

•       The strength of the partnerships behind them. Inclusive housing is never delivered alone. It depends on governments, community housing providers, support providers, designers and trades working towards the same goal.

•       The certainty we provide along the way. Our partners need to know what will be delivered, when, and to what standard, so they can plan with confidence.

Homes that are practical, durable and meaningful

We pursue our purpose by delivering homes that meet three tests.

Practical to build. Good outcomes start with designs that can be delivered on budget and on program. We bring construction thinking into projects early so that what is designed can be built efficiently, without compromising on what matters.

Durable to own. Inclusive housing is a long-life asset. The organisations that own and manage these homes need them to perform for decades, with materials and details chosen to keep maintenance down and liveability up.

Meaningful to the communities they serve. The best homes fit their neighbourhoods, respond to the needs of the people who live in them, and leave a community stronger than before.
